About Me

Image represents my vision/ myself

First of all, wooohooo to myself, 505 and GRADUATING SENIOR!

I am an international student from Taiwan. This is my fourth year at SFSU. I started out as a sociology major; love it but can't live with it. I switched to DAI in 2008 and majored Visual Communication, because I realized I still loved to work with colors and images a lot. Working in design industry can both fulfill my interests of working with people and playing with a variety of "artistic" media.

My life is filled with music and books. I pretty much listen to everything, from classic opera, Le nozze di Figaro, to pop music, Lady Gaga, except heavy metal and techno. As for reading, I consider myself as a picky classic/ old fashion reader. I like classics and detective novels. My favorite authors are Sir Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Oscar Wilde, and J.M. Barrie. Chinese historical fictions are also my favorite. I have no interest in modern time fantasy, but only in love with the culture and legends hundreds/ thousands years ago in China and Tibet. I consider the spirit of Chinese culture as a great inspiration to my works and also to me as in person. My favorite quote from, Peter Pan, one of the famous works of J.M. Barrie, is "To live would be an awfully long adventure." This quote inspires me the way I live my life. One of my favorite quotes from the book, The poem named Tibet, is "The Mudra isn't complicated, the question is how it is placed in my dusty life? A fascinating passage of Mantra is not an unfamiliar kind of language, the question is how it is going to bloom, from the stained lips of mine, silently. I am holding on to a blossom, which has never flourished on earth, bursting into tears and seeking for the one old man in ink-ish crimson. Before it becomes withered, I have to present the rare blossom in front of him, the Cintamani and the smile that chains up the lives of mine." These words are so touching that makes me adore the beauty of faith.

I am also interested in Native Americans, and mostly fancy about the arts, songs and legends. I am a BIG TIME Mexican food eater.

My vision of life is not extraordinary. The main goal is I can enjoy life as the way I want it to be like what most people want. I picture myself being able to buy a house of my own and have a job associated with design in the coming future. Vehicle is not a top priority; but if it is possible, I would like to have a '67 Chevy Impala (since I'm a fan of Supernatural). My dream job is working with musical/ opera performers. I love stage design and working with people.

Six "Key Words" of ME: Kid, Design, Tibet, Chinese, Wolf, Mozart.

  2. You were a Sociology major? I used to be a Psychology major before I switch to DAI three years ago. You're right, it's a great personal interest but nothing I can make a living in

  3. You seem to be a well rounded and read individual. I would think that these influences would greatly affect your work in a balanced professional way. The cultures you follow have so much history. I am looking forward to seeing your designs.
